I pass this wildflower bed most days as I drive into town. Today I stopped to take a photo. It has been planted by a local plant expert who does work for the council. She prepared a bed of earth and planted a wildflower selection for all to enjoy. At the moment it's resplendent with poppies and cornflowers. I bumped into her in town today and she tells me it should be filled with different flowers until September. She has entered St Neots into the Anglia in bloom competition and hopes to win a medal again this year with this being one of the areas she will show the judges next week. I think it looks stunning but can you believe there are people who have complained as they think it looks untidy! You can't see from the picture but it's actually a circular bed at the edge of a green area.
Beautiful capture of wildflowers!! I think they look really lovely on our roadsides and elsewhere.I suppose some people prefer everything laid out formally....I like the randomness of these flowers!!
I agree with Carol - they look stunning and councils seem to be doing this more and more to brighten up our surroundings which I'm pleased about. We've got more areas like this in Bedford and I'm often tempted to take pics of them but they seem to be in areas where you can't stop in the car so it's nice to see yours.
