Olympic tickets - at last!

We managed to get tickets for the men's riding event of the modern pentathlon. Great venue, atmosphere and weather - couldn't be better! Show jumping wouldn't have been my choice but I'm so glad I was able to be a part of this whole amazing Olympic experience. Two British riders took part and came 10th and 13th out of 36. Well done to all the competitors especially the one who was thrown off his horse, but remounted and finished the course!
Great action shot. Lucky you.

Lucky you! Oh I am jealous. We spent so much time watching the equestrian events on Foxtel. The venue looked spectacular and I just cannot imagine the hours of dedication it takes horse and rider to perform with such artistry...and the skill of the photographer to capture this excellent action shot!

@ubobohobo Thanks for your comments. Actually in this event the horse and rider are not familiar with each other - the horses are chosen at random and the skill is to ride an unfamiliar horse over the twelve jumps. The other disciplines in the modern pentathlon are fencing, swimming, running and shooting. Apparently in the ancient Olympics this event was the big one as the award was for the best all round athlete.

Fab shot!! Our physio neighbour has been volunteering there and has been reporting back about how spectacular it is. That pentathlon jumping is difficult when the horses are not chosen by the riders - one of our women had a really rough draw by all accounts. I was very taken by the winning dressage routine - wish I'd watched more now!
