After all the photo opportunities I had in NZ I seem to have lost my photo mojo. However, I was rather pleased with this paua shell which I found on the beach one day. They are rather prized and indeed sold in the shops. They are used extensively in jewellery and also for making cultured blue pearls. The other shells and stones are all ones I collected in NZ. Does anyone else have a similar habit?
Little D and I are relentless in our stone collecting - they are all over the house in dishes on windowsills and we often write on them with a gold pen if they hold a memory of a special day at the beach. I have a jar of shells I collected when we did some diving one year off Cayman. It was a miracle that I could swim I had so many stashed about my person!! :0) Will photograph mine too - what a lovely idea - thank you!
Judith, looking at your picture makes me homesick. These things where all past of my childhood, growing up at the beach in NZ. Best childhood ever, we where hardly ever home always off down the beach, in the bush on the farm out the back or around the rocks, chasing crabs and other critters in rock pools. Thanks for the memories.
