It has been a day of sunshine and showers but the mood in our house is far from happy. We were totally shocked by the result of the referendum in the early hours of this morning. The people of the UK have voted to leave the EU. What were they thinking of?
3 good things 1. this is the Cliff Richard rose - yes I'm still a fan and I'm delighted that he has been cleared of the recent charges against him.
2. Needed to get out of the house so went to the local Italian for a late lunch - no cooking tonight!
3. More strawberries picked - making strawberry jam, again!
Beautiful rose ... and some interesting little visitors on it. I'm with you on your first good thing - and also share your concern about today's decision.... especially from the Scottish perspective.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie, I think you're right. @jmj At least Scotland supported the UK- 100%! I expect you will go for another referendum on a separate Scotland, I don't blame you.
I would hate for Scotland to separate from the UK & I can see no advantage if it! I am glad personally that we have cast off from the EU but to have our small United Kingdom split would be just terrible. Have we no sense of our countries identity anymore? It could have so easily gone the other way so I feel everyone's shock. Big changes for farmers too, perhaps we can grow what we want without getting paid for growing nothing!
A lovely capture, so pretty. On the other hand I understand your gloom, we were totally shocked too. Our country is going to be so small if we lose Scotland and Northern Ireland, the days of us being a force to be reckoned with are gone but the truth is no-one knows what's going to happen all we can do is hang on for a seat of the pants ride!
@happypat I can understand Scotland wanting to leave as that was one of their conditions of becoming independent. They supported 'remain' 100% so it makes sense for them to go for independence again.
