We spotted the mistletoe in the trees on the way home yesterday with the setting sun just beginning to show its colours in the sky behind. Mistletoe is a parasite which grows on the branches of trees and shrubs, sometimes causing the trees to die. The white berries are poisonous to humans but are important to wildlife. It is seen as a sign of renewal as it stays green all winter.
Thanks you so much for all your comments and fav's yesterday - much appreciated.
What a lovely find and capture ! As a child we always had a bunch of mistletoe hanging in a bunch above the door adjoining the Kitchen and living room ! So much fun!!
Lovely capture and find the mistletoe looks wonderful in the bare trees in Winter there used to be a great display at Burghley in the car park but probably gone now as the wind tends to blow it down.
