The bridge in front is the Royal Tweed Bridge opened in 1928. It was built to replace the Berwick or Old Bridge pictured behind, and was opened in 1624. The old bridge is still in use and takes traffic in one direction only.
I was pleased to visit the Quilter's Guild exhibition in Berwick, the main reason for our visit today.
I have a hard time getting my arms around a bridge which is 400 years old and still usable. Our bridges are falling apart and many were built in the 1950's and 60's.
A nice shot of the two bridges. I like to include the third railway bridge in my shots, although I wouldn't say I had taken a shot that I was fuly satisfied with.
