Not the classic view from the beach but as we arrived late in the afternoon we found a walking route skirting the castle from the town and around through the sand dunes. There seems to have been a fortification on the site since the 600's which has been much fought over and extended over the years. Many owners are listed but the present owners are the Armstrong family dating back to Victorian times.
@sangwann It is huge. Apparently 14 of the rooms are open every day for viewing and you can stay in the recently opened Clock Tower. However, 2022 is fully booked apart from Christmas week when the cost is £3,500 for the week! Sleeps 4.
