Abu Simbel temple

Yet another temple visit today. This one was originally carved out of the mountainside in the 13th century BC. Due the the building of the Aswan dam, the temple was removed in the 1960's to save it from being submerged by the rising waters. The gigantic statues are of Ramesses ll.
