Cathedral caves

I think the hardest part of this project is choosing which picture to post! While we're travelling around NZ to so many beautiful places it's difficult to choose pictures to represent all the fabulous places we've visited. This sea-cave is only accessible via a 20 minute walk through a dense cold temperate rain forest, then a walk across the huge expanse of white sand at low tide. The base of the cave looks like water but was in fact wet sand so we could walk into the 150 metre long cave.
This was fun when we did it a few months ago for the first time! Quite amazing isn't it!

Love this -- I did think it was water --so glad you explained it was wet sand - love the textures in this jaggedness of the rock surface the textures of the stalactites from the roof the smoothness of the sandy floor The mono tones work so well for this -- it would do a marvelous exercise for a pencil sketch !!
