Galileo Thermometer by carole_sandford

Galileo Thermometer

It is a thermometer made of a sealed glass cylinder containing a clear liquid & several glass vessels of varying density. The individual floats rise or fall in proportion to their respective density and the density of the surrounding fluid as the temperature changes. Named after Galileo, who discovered the principle - that the density of a liquid changes in proportion to its temperature.
A great shot. I have one of these and I wish I’d thought of taking a photo of it 😂😂.

Nice one. We have one of these thermometers and as our weather is so extreme the weights are either all at the top or all at the bottom.
