Granville Island is a man made island situated underneath the Granville Street Bridge, one of the main arteries into downtown Vancouver. Originally an industrial site it is now home to, among other things, a hotel, several restaurants, a live theatre, a craft brew house, a school of art and this large and very popular Public Market where you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, meat, cheeses and much more.
A great shot with the woman with her shopping bag over her arm. Because of the gray sky and lighted sign, the time of day is difficult to determine, which gives some mystery to the photo for me.
Love the way the ladies coat stands out. Beautiful light in this shot, but the sky does look stormy. Have you avoided the floods? Hope all is well for you.
@farmreporter I don’t believe downtown Vancouver or Granville Island had any serious flooding but low lying areas such as Richmond, where I live suffered some flooding (see my collage posted 3 days ago). Further out in the Fraser Valley where there was some very serious flooding and many evacuations. The main Highway leading from Vancouver to the interior of BC was completely washed out as was the railway line and the town of Merrit, about 170 miles from Vancouver, had to be completely evacuated due to flooding. It will take some time to get back to normal. My wife and I received a bit of a scare but in the end we were fine. Many people have had their lives upended and I feel so bad for them.
@shutterbug49 Our yard was flooded, up to 11” at the deepest point, but no water came in the house. The rain has stopped and the water around our place has receded but other parts of BC are still in dire straits.

Great shot, BTW.
Terrific capture with the shopper.
