Finally! I'm back! I've had a series of things happen in the last few weeks that have prevented me from participating in this project. First, our PC died. Then, I had surgery. Next, when we finally got a new PC, the internet went out! So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things will return to normal -- at least partially. I'm out of work for another week, recuperating, so hopefully I can catch up with you all.
A few weeks ago I went home to Virginia to see my family. We stayed in a cabin, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, in a small community called Meadows of Dan. My sister and her husband have a great little restaurant there called the Crooked Road Café. They serve a delicious Greek cuisine, which is unusual for the area, but I think that's why they've been so successful. If ever you're in that area you need to make a point to stop in. You won't be disappointed.
This is not the cabin that we stayed in, but one that was tucked away in the woods. The Fall colors had just started turning. I'm sure they're gorgeous by now.
So happy to be back with you all. How I've missed you!
Cindy, am glad your surgery went well. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your family in the beautiful peaceful setting of the Blue Ridge Pkwy, which I love! This is such an amazingly beautiful photo and like David says, it has a painterly effect to it. I even like this one better than the previous shot, soooooooo ...... another fav!
I wasn't aware that you had surgery... I am praying for a quick and complete recovery for you! This photo says mountain retreat! The fall foliage really pops against the dark evergreens... beautifully composed! And I am familiar with The Crooked Road that is Virginia's Music Heritage Trail... we will have to look up your sister's cafe... we occasionally travel through the Meadows of Dan.
@cazann - Thanks, Caz. Had some foot surgery but I'm on the mend! The doctor gave me the okay to drive. Yay!!! I have a big boot on my foot, which feels like a ball and chain, but it's not enough to stop me from getting out with my camera! Thanks for the well wishes and thanks for stopping by to comment on my numerous photos!
