Just by chance I caught a lapwing this afternoon, it’s not very often you get a chance for a photo so I was pleased it held still long enough for this shot. They are migratory birds that arrive in spring to breed and put on the most watchable aerobatic flying displays across the moorland where they nest.

Lovely capture but I think it’s a lapwing and not a curlew. I was in Derbyshire last week and was watching curlews overhead. They have a long curved beak.
