Today's photograhic exercise was to make photographs about color. I kept thinking about the color green. The colors of late winter are gray, brown and white. I crave the green of springtime and growing plants. I was elated by this shot for two reasons. First of all, I did not really plan this shot. I just saw this and quickly snapped the shot. Secondly, I took this shot with my compact camera, which is the camera I had handy. This camera is not known for macro shots, yet it was able to take this shot. Amazing!
This photographic exercise can be found in the second chapter of the book, Extraordinary Everyday Photography. In this chapter, the authors write about exploring subjects more in depth and reacting to what you see with your emotions. Another way to open up to your subject matter is to respond reflexively to what you see with a gut reaction. I started shooting by using their first method. However, on this shot, I used their second method. When I saw this image on the computer screen, my reaction was, "This worked!"
