I spent the first part of this day gathering towels and warm items for my family members who are crazy enough to do a polar plunge at a friend's pool, and I lugged my nice camera with me to get a great shot--alas, they were just ok--not something so "me" for the beginning of this project. So I took a photo of my other fun activity today--I trimmed a whole beef tenderloin (a great Christmas gift from my father this year) to make steaks and to prepare the "butt" roast for the grill. I took the leftover trimmings and used my new "raclette" to cook the steak with my husband and daughter. I suspect that many of my photos this year will involve food in some manner or other--today, it's about preparing the food. And yeah, it's a little yucky--but these came out nice I think!
It's funny looking back. I definitely thought it might be a year of food shots. I knew the project was a writing project as I shifted away from my blog to this site, but I never really knew I would want to be a photographer! So it's been a real journey. And I realise that this kind of photo can really start some explosive conversations. So I'm glad no one knew me on day one (except one friend from high school). Thanks for the visit Kali :)
