Nebraska by darylo

Nebraska

After a 5am wakeup, a few coughs, and a ride to the Atlanta airport, I boarded a flight to Nebraska for an Open Education Summit for the Nebraska College System (I teach remotely, online).

I arrived in Omaha, then hitched a ride with a colleague, and watched the Nebraska landscape unfold for another two or three hours--lots of cattle in feed lots, roll after roll of hay, and flat, flat, flat land. I arrived in Wayne, NE to my little hotel and went outside to capture a few pics of what was outside my window before I had to pack up the brief case to attend meetings that would be inside for the rest of the day.

Barren is what I'd call it out here. Beautiful, but barren. I imagine this tree comes to life in summer, but for now, it's cold, windy, and lifeless.

It's snowing here now. I wish my children could see it all. Who knows what tomorrow will look like?
@vskolnik ooooops! I meant to hit reply and I deleted you comment! So sorry about that. I'm working from my laptop and it has a tricky mouse. Shoot! It really is a starkly lovely tree. Thanks so much for commenting! :)

Barren and lifeless, perhaps, but promising to be alive again, I think, with the way you vignetted the tree and gave it a warm embrace.

From Atlanta to Nebraska -- online teaching! This term, I'll be teaching my online class where my students are in Chicago area and I'll be in Germany and Korea.

@jyokota Yes, it's such a wonderful world we are in! Korea! My girls love Korean dramas (we watch them on Netflix), and I have to say they are quite addicting! I can say "thank you" and "what" and "why" and "hey" pretty well now! :)

@darylo ! Are you watching Dae Jangeum ????? Don't tell me YOU are the reason that Netflix keeps delaying sending me my DVDs. I already knew hello, thank you, how are you from a trip to Korea in the 1970s but I keep wondering what "ship-sho" means because you hear it a lot.

Well done you made it! It's snowing, cold and lifeless here too, can't wait to see the trees in leaf.

I like this monotone shot. The bushes/trees in the background peeking through look a bit like eyes.

DDD, your photo reminds me of dry ink sketches.

@judis Thanks! I have not been checking my posts well -- going out of town is not something I do well!
