Prepping for 200 guests--I'm in CT for the every other year Low Country Boil my brother puts on for his friends and family. I have arrived today, just in time for the three bushels of corn we must shuck for the corn, crab, shrimp, sausage, potato feast--this is family tradition of the South offered to friends of the North, and it's so much fun!
In the photo is my father (center), who just turned 81, my uncle on the left (same age), and a friend of my sister-in-law joining in on the shucking of the corn. We use the husks for decoration in a basket that holds lemons and peppermint sticks (photos to come, but imagine a sunflower design idea); we also use the husks to wrap up the forks and napkins (as a bow tie). Confirmation that "presentation matters."
This event happens only every two years. I've flown to CT to join my brothers and parents and family and their neighbors, and I'm so fortunate to have friends from college days join in tomorrow. We'll have live music too--a little country show, so to speak. LOW COUNTRY BOIL. It's a tradition. And I love it.
@taffy It's all outdoors. Low country boils are with HUGE pots for boiling outdoor and we pour it all on tables for consumption--it's an all day affair, just an amazing foodie event I adore. Been doing it since I could walk. :)
Sounds like an amazing event, and I'm wishing I was a member of this clan! I can just imagine "presentation" being important to you . . . it's evident in all your food photography!
