I just loved how the shapes looked after I took these shots tonight in the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
I'm leaving for Mexico (solo) to take care of my Mother-in-law, who is still in the ICU and in very poor condition. My husband was able to hear her voice today for the first time, which is a good sign. I'm nervous, though, for the first time traveling this way (I'm normally very happy traveling solo). I don't really know where I'm going and I don't know the people who will pick me up. I don't even know where everything is at all.
The worst part is that I will leave on Christmas day. I'm resolved it was the right decision, but my children are going to struggle. I have to cancel some things I was really looking forward to also, but I have to put things in perspective. Ironically, I'm going on the day of the savior's birth, off to a land I don't know, and I'm not even sure "there's room at the inn." I'll have to go on faith that all will work out. Regardless, I'm suffering a bit of anxiety...
I'm going to post a bunch of photos from tonight and they may end up being rearranged to round out my year. I was hoping to make sure I had a photo a day, and it's still the goal, but life--it's funny what it does. I have to roll with it as best I can. I tried to really work on these photos tonight knowing they may be some of my last.
I took my tripod too. The world was there, but I took my time, and I'm proud of the work.
Again, thanks to everyone who has commented and sent good wishes to my mother-in-law. I will take your kind spirits and warm wishes, and she is sure to feel the spark of love that permeates this worldwide community. I love you all. :) MERRY CHRISTMAS
Just love this! Definitely surreal and definitely beautiful! I must be very behind on your album. I didn't know about your MIL and your travels to Mexico. I'm very sorry that she is in ill health and that you are faced with the Christmas travels alone. You are doing the right thing though. You will never regret having made this effort and sacrifice. The angels will be watching out for you and it will be good. Best wishes to you, Daryl.
I am sending positive vibes your way Daryl. One foot in front of the other..and you will get where you need to be!What you are doing is beautiful and so generous and kind.Sending you a cyber hug! Merry Christmas my friend!
SPECTACULAR FAV! Now I see the basis for the other photo which I had no clue how you had taken. (Oh, dear, I fear the grammar gods won't like that sentence...)
But, I have been almost entirely off of 365 these past three weeks while traveling and I missed your mother-in-law's story. I will take time over the next week or so to try to catch up. Meanwhile, travel safely, and know we are all wishing you the best!
Fabulous shot Daryl!! My heart goes out to you on your lone trip to Mexico. I am sure everything will fall into place for you - there will be room at that inn!! Oh Daryl, I'm so sorry to hear your ML is not improving yet. Good luck on the travels and with your time there. I hope your holiday Xmas eve and day are wonderful with your family. And this photo is spectacular and an instant fav -- leaping out from the trending page. All the best.
This is a stunning shot and a fav Daryl. Take care on your travels, I hope all turns out well for you and your family. The unknown is always tough, but you strike me as a tough cookie, I'm sure you will prevail. Happy Christmas to you and your family.
I read a book once as a child entitled, "The Daring 0f Daryl". It was one of my favourites and is still in my bookcase 60 years later! It seems to me that this is you.. Going out into the unknown on a selfless mission! I'm sure the way will be easy and full of wonderful surprises. Love your photo - saw it on Trending!
Good luck with whatever lies ahead, it must be a huge relief for your MIL to know you will be by her side. Keep safe and a very Happy Christmas to you and your family.
Very cool photo. Surreal... So is your situation... Life's been turned around suddenly... Good luck on your trip to and in Mexico. I'll hope they've got a place for you in an 'inn' ...
This photo is crazy good. There is no sense of scale so we don't know if the globes are the size of marbles or Buicks. Fav.
I feel like I know you, and my sense is that you are a strong person and will do OK under these unfortunate circumstances. I hope everything turns out well for you, and your entire family.
