B is for Blurred

Another attempt at blurism just using my Samsung S5 for capture. This time, I worked it up in LR5, desaturating the keys, except for the one "b"/ red key. Depending on your monitor's calibration levels, the dot may look quite orange to you. I have two monitors--one old HP and a newer Dell that clearly has the better calibration and color range. What I see on the phone when I upload here is usually similar to my Dell screen, so that is good.

Liking the blurism challenge because I usually can't do it, and I'm often pressuring myself to always BE IN FOCUS! It's a nice break, but it's also hard for me to really celebrate it much! And this is my first keyboard shot (I think), so I can mark it off the photo bucket list at least!

Tonight is Downton Abbey! I'm a DA junkie.
Love the pop of red. DA? Dumb ass? I'm into them sometimes, too;-).

I like this one! So tough to know what's blur-worthy. This has great texture... I'm thinking that a good blur is in that sweet zone just before abstract.

Interesting image. Like you I struggle to my photos in focus so blur ism seems like it would be a walk in the park!

I must admit to not having heard of blurism before. An interesting concept. I like this one as you can still see what the subject is.

Nice blur. It's good to still be able to know the subject.

Nice work. I don't know "the rules" about blurism but I like the photo. I bet it is hard to go out of focus. We are all so trained that clarity and focus are essential to good photography!

@squamloon that's probably the best way to put it. It's rather easy to do, so it's not a real interest for me unless I had a lens baby to work with, but it's been fun trying to see what I can achieve with my phone exclusively. It's also helping me learn what my new phone camera has in its settings!

@kt8ird so true! Blurism is not really my thing, but I see some awesome work here with it. It's also like selfies--not my thing, but I really enjoy seeing some of the ones that are here! It's fun to give it a go, though, so it's worth the effort to blur everything for some effect that does not rely on the one thing I work so hard to do every day: get things in focus!

@danette I think that does help unless it goes full abstract, which I think I prefer in the end.

@grammyn well, let's just say that yesterday it was super easy to accidentally take a photo and all I did today was put my phone too close to the keyboard and take a shot (it CAN'T focus if it's too close!). It's a great way to be lazy and get in a shot! :)

I think this works for blurism and think your definition - just before abstract - is apt. I like the photo, the spot of red, and your courage at stepping out of your comfort zone!
