Ok, some of you know that I am working on a summer-long project in my backyard to rid myself of weeds (even though I am partial to them as photography subjects). Phase I is in progress!
I took a photo of a weed plot where I will build raised beds, but I have a nice little plot that has grown out of control right outside my back door. That shepherd's crook USED to house the awful bird house that almost killed my wrens if it hadn't been for pink zebra duct tape. I have moved the crook between two pineapple balm plants that will attract hummingbirds in the late summer (and now I have a nice hummingbird feeder there too!). The rest, cleared out--including my over-15-year-old lemon balm, oregano, and mint--the bay leaf "tree" has been trimmed and the apple tree is in the distance.
It will all be worth it! I did my own backyard reno and ended up with bursitis in both hips. Ouch. But I love my new backyard! Good to take photos of your progress ...
