I can't help myself I have taken so many bird shots, but I had to get this lady who was just too pretty to turn away. She and a male were playing hide and seek in the bushes (which have been severely cropped in the middle by some landscapers).
You could not have turned her away. She is so beautiful Daryl and so is your photo. Her eye is sharp as a tack and the foreground and background are just perfect for her. Wonderful capture.
@mothervic a zoom to 300mm. I'm actually leaving by car and I just rolled down window, put to full zoom and used shutterspeed priority so I knew I would get the detail and would have to worry about grain in processing. Luck. Half the time with birds (not at a feeder) just good ole fashioned luck (and patience). :)
Thanks for your explanation of how you're getting such fabulous focus on these birds - I'm still learning about this camera - Love your coloring and detail - Really nice composition.
@milaniet Always feel free to ask if I don't provide it. Birds are great (and frustrating) subjects. I focus on the eyes as much as I can (if they'll stand still), and I use the continuous shutter. I sometimes use something called AI Servo which is really good to keep focus on a moving subject (birds!). I've also found that the editing can really help bring out some of the details that may not be evident when I load them in. Learning the camera is such a great thing, so keep up the great work!!
Awesome capture! Love that sunlight! I struggle getting bird shots away from my feeders, in more "natural" settings, because all the trees in my yard are so tall! fav
@nanalisarocks I just gave away my feeders. My best shots of birds are on my walks and when I just sit still a long time. I tried feeding since Feb., but I used up the 40lb bag someone gave me for my birthday and I didn't want to keep feeding squirrels. We'll see what happens now. :)
