Ripon obelisk
At 9pm every night the town crier visits each corner of the obelisk to check that all is well. He then has to go to the Lord Mayor to inform him that all is well in the town.
During the day children climb on it and people sit to rest.

A lovely shot of the obelisk. I love the tradition of the town crier. I remember witnessing it quite a few years ago.
