Ironsand by dide

Ironsand

This is the entrance to the Taharoa ironsand extraction plant, on the west coast of the North Island, NZ. It is an isolated spot, just south of the Kawhia Harbour. The ironsand concentrate is extracted from the black sand in the surrounding area. There is a small settlement nearby, housing all the workers from the mine site.
I recognise the area. Kawhia Harbour is beautiful. Interesting photo, I saw the flax first, then the far background then the detail of the trucks and mine etc. I like it
