Our lawn at home is almost all kikuyu grass, a native of South Africa, which has been introduced into NZ. The following day, (after the lawn has been mowed), these small filaments pop up, with tiny seed heads. They are only 2-3cm high.
@maggiemae Yes it's all very lovely until it creeps into the garden, climbs and smothers your new trees and generally takes over - a good frost slows it, but when it's warmer, back it comes.
@lilminimonka yes - and it was windy (yesterday) when I took this shot - I will try again one day when it's not blowing so hard and there's more dew around.
