Farewell Taranaki by dide

Farewell Taranaki

Yesterday I returned from Taranaki and this was how clear the mountain looked. It is very often covered with cloud and not visible, even though New Plymouth is almost tucked underneath it.

Had an interesting day at work today. One little 5 year old told me that all the colour had gone from my hair (I am very grey). When I asked him why he thought that was so, he told me that when you get old, all the colour goes from your hair. I asked him how he knew this, and he said (with great authority) that his mother had told him.
At the end of the day, he found a wee dead wax eye (native bird). He wanted to take it home to bury it so that it could go to 'bird heaven'. His big sisters said he couldn't take it home, so I said I would bury it at our place. I said we'd put it in a paper bag (which I did) and he said that - 'You've killed it more!' I said that it was already dead, but he replied you've hurt it's heart. - Oh the joys - he's the trickiest kid in the class, but I love him and should have been writing a book about all his ideas. (And by the way, I am Wonder Woman, according to him!!!!!)
I think you seem to be on the wave length of those who are just finding out about the world! This is a different view of the great mountain and I'm looking forward to seeing it from some direction later! fav

@happypat I work in the classroom with this little guy - he's an amazing kid and at times has been to Mars as well! I had been in Taranaki for a couple of weeks with my sister, who has had a total knee joint replacement.

At first glance, I thought it looked like Mt Fuji! Your landscape cropping and the lovely colors project a sense of calm.

Wonderful shot, the mountain is so clear. Love your story; I love kids who are individual and think deeply but they can be challenging to teach
