Harvest time

The maize has just been harvested - it is a great process to watch and it took 5 hours to harvest the 18 or so acres. It is all chopped and made into silage to use as winter feed for dairy cows - nothing is wasted and the stubble is only about 4 inches high. Very soon, the paddocks will be under sown with ryegrass - no earthworks are done and the stubble just rots back into the soil.
