The tide's out!

When the tide goes out on the Manukau, there's an awful lot of mudflats!

@homeschoolmom @happypat those little mangroves colonise areas in the estuary and over time will completely fill the bay until there is no access for boats or swimming. They grow to 4 metres high. In some areas they get removed. There is some debate that they are important for fish breeding areas. Over decades we have seen them take over parts of the harbour, so dense that the sediment buildup becomes an issue.
