The male stitchbird has very pretty colours, while his female counterpart is much more dull coloured. They are hard to photograph, especially at this time of the year, when the males are trying to show off and attract a partner!
Fabulous photo. I had to look this bird up in Wikipedia. It says that the stitch bird is endemic to New Zealand. It looks very much like our New Holland Honeyeater which is found in Tasmania and Eastern Australia. A fav
@golftragic Many of the birds on Tiri are banded, as they are part of a breeding programme on an open sanctuary. It's funny to see the skinny wee legs of a robin sporting bands.
