These trees are at the Awhitu Regional Park. They are lawsonianas and were brought in by the early settlers of the area. For many, many years, we took our kids camping in this area and these trees were a great place for them to play. I think our kids and their camping buddies named this area 'Monkeyville'. Now the next generation of kids from our family are camping here and no doubt these trees will become part of their playground too.
