Right beside the camping ground where we stayed was the beginning of a tramping track. So yesterday, we decided to have a look. It was 3 hours - first hour steeply uphill, then some flattish bits followed by steeply downhill. At one stage, for a few hundred metres, the steep downhill track was actually a small muddy stream. When we got down to the bottom, there were lots of rocky stream crossings. Unfortunately I didn't take many photos as my camera was tucked safely in the backpack while I negotiated some tricky terrain. The top left image is looking back towards the township of Thames. You can just see an old wharf sticking out into the water. Here is a link to @julzmaioro 's image of the same wharf at sunset the previous day. It's a photographers' dream destination.
Thank you for posting shots like this, love to see this kind of countryside. These days my undercarriage is not up to hills and/or uneven ground so I have to content myself with enjoying other's photos.
@golftragic Yes - we did have a conversation yesterday, (as we were scrambling down slippery tracks) about how lucky we are to be able to tackle such hikes. @milaniet tricky in patches but great fun.
@dide Apart from a couple of other undercarriage probs my metal joints (3 of) don't like terrain like that. You are very fortunate, long may it continue too.
What a beautiful place to visit Dianne, with your wonderful narrative and lovely images I feel like I was tramping along with you and not out of breath once, Fav:)
