Nasty little blighters

I found this nest of wasps this evening on a fence railing down by the native trees. I think it will need dealing with, as it is quite large and looks like more wasplets are soon to hatch.
How wonderful. I had one inside my shed door a few years ago. Watched it grow from golf ball size to football, absolutely fascinating. I didn't threaten them (except with camera!), they didn't threaten me. But I did get some super shots. Your circumstances will determine the nest's fate, I suppose.
Very interesting image

Such beutiful symetry in nature. Awesome (and brave) shot and yes that looks like a big nest.

You are very brave. David was stung twice by a paper wasp not so long ago and he says it hurt like hell.
My sister in law was also stung when she lived in New Zealand and she ended up in hospital on an IV drip because she had a really bad reaction to the sting and her whole arm was swollen up to three times its normal size.

Great photo. I agree they have to be dealt with. Sorry mates, wrong time, wrong place.

Eeek is right! @k1w1 This is a good capture of them but I sure don’t blame you for wanting to get rid of them.

Great capture - not my favourite insects either I had some built its nest in my roof space and had to have the pest destroyer in his full outfit of white boiler suite , hat and mask to destroy the nest !

Nasty little beasties... seek and destroy...

Isn't nature wonderful, you have to admire the building work in this nest....wasps must have some use but I can't think what!

I agree with Pat and equally have no idea what useful purpose they serve

Really like this shot. Mustn't be paper wasps which don't let you get within 20 feet before you get stung. I know from experience....only did that twice. LOL
