The home farm by dide

The home farm

This is the house that I grew up in (along with 4 sisters and mum and dad). When we were little, dad was dairy farming with a herd of Ayrshires. A couple of years ago, when the farm was sold, it was bought by an Ayrshire breeder, so once again the farm has lovely red and white cattle on it. The house was mum and dad's pride and joy (dad built it and mum is very fussy) - the window frames wouldn't have ever looked like this while they were in residence!
So, some nice reminders and some not so....

A beautiful scene, there’s something so peaceful about cattle grazing. I like your presentation too. I wonder if the new owner doesn’t live in the house?

@louannwarren you are correct - the house was sold separately - yeats before the main farm was sold.

How lovely to see the house, but how sad that it's a bit neglected!

This is a wonderful image and a great narrative. It’s so nice to hear about the life stories of other 365ers. Thank you for sharing

Super cows...love them all. Our neighbour rents some pasture for cows; they're ther at the moment. I find them irresistible and enjoy talking to them, cajoling them...and just enjoying their gentleness.

I always have a tinge of sadness when I go past your family home .. it certainly does not look like a sparkly pin that it was when your family were here.. though is nice to see the 'Red 'n' Whites' back in the paddocks

Lovely to see the cattle but sad about the house - I also grew up on a farm and visited a few times in later years with my parents, it was sad for Dad especially to see the farm deteriorate when he had worked so hard over the years to maintain and improve it.

@chikadnz we are lucky that the farm is very well cared for with healthy animals being raised on it.

Shame about the window frames, but good to see it still occupied and the farm carrying on the tradition.

Boo
nice to see that the tradition is carrying on...shame about the house though

The cows look great. The house is slightly unloved.
