I wanted some images of night lights and decided the Kentish Hotel be a good subject. This is the local hotel in town, built in 1851. The Kentish is located near the wharf and was a stop off point for newcomers to the area. It lays claim to having the oldest continuous liquor license in NZ. In 1926, it nearly burnt down when some buildings on the opposite side of the road caught on fire. Locals poured water onto the building and hung wet sheets over the facade, and saved the day.
