Kauritutahi Island by dide

Kauritutahi Island

This is the island that you can walk to at low tide. When @julzmaioro was there staying with us, we all went out to explore the island. It is interesting to see all the marine species that live in the sand/mudflats as you walk out to the island. The kids were most taken with the whelks who were all crowded around the cockles. Lots of crabs to see under the rocks which made the kids happy.
fabulous shot Dianne

It’s beautiful. I know the children learned more that day than they could learn in a month at school.

A nice shot of this interesting little island. My mum likes to tell me about when she was a girl she and her brothers would walk out to an island in the Dee estuary, where they would spend the day while the tide came in and went out again.
