In NZ we have a problem with kauri dieback disease. It attacks our large native kauri trees and kills them. Some bush areas have been closed off to the public, while others have special cleaning stations at either end of the tracks. Here is Chook getting ready to clean and disinfect his boots, as the microorganism that carries the disease is spread through soil from infected areas.
Nice shot... Makes me think back to a visit we had to a cave in the US years ago... in that instance they had tubs of alcohol to clean shoe bottoms with the intention of protecting the bat population living inside the cave.
