Maize by dide

Maize

Josh is frantically planting maize before the next lot of rain comes through. He planted a couple of blocks of land that he leases yesterday. He also plants hectare after hectare for other maize growers.
Great colourful photo. Hope they have a great season.

Very interesting photo and comments. Is the maize used for fodder?

@ethelperry yes. Back in the day only the grain was used. Nowdays most of the time the whole plant and cob is chopped up and put into huge silage stacks.

No sleep for Josh then! Strange as we are frantically getting the last of the maize crops in….rain has been horrendous this week but we’ve seen loads of silage trailers full of maize going past on the main road.

Great storytelling shot. In field work, it is always a race against time.

@haskar you are so right. Everyone wants the seed in the ground at the same time, then at the othet end of the season it is all go to harvest!
