Mt Messenger tunnel by dide

Mt Messenger tunnel

On our way to New Plymouth today, we were following a tractor for a while on the windy road. It was fun to see it disappear into the short tunnel at the top of Mt Messenger. Soon after this there was a space for it to pull off the road, so we were able to continue at a slightly faster pace.
Nice capture of the subject and good composition.

A cool piece of equipment. When I enlarged the image I noticed that chicken wire on the side of the tunnel entrance. I guess it’s purpose is to keep the wall from crumbling?

Tractors do slow us down but I’m sure you are very tolerant! Looks god against the tunnel.

@joansmor @happypat yes - we are tolerant of tractors as we are rural folk. Hearing from our son, Josh about some of the risks car drivers take while overtaking makes us even more tolerant. The tractor drivers pull over when they can.
