Victoria Battery Waikino

Another image from our very wet bike ride the other day. This is the Victoria Battery in Waikino in the Karagahake Gorge. It was built around 1875 and used to crush ore (from the Martha Mine in Waihi) to extract gold. If you look closely, you can see the rain falling...
