Well, I've seen before that some (mostly teens) think that gear is indeed something that matters. But what do you need a camera for 2000 bucks for, if you're only shooting your neighbour's dogs?
Or like someone I know once said: What do I need a ferrari for, when I actually plan on having a family and would therefore rather need a car that is maybe not as fast and shiny, but works well for the purpose it's intended to be used for?
It's exactly the same in the industry I work in. People who know nothing try to tell those of us who know what we're doing what tools we should use. I won't say what I really think, because I might get thrown off the site, it being family friendly and all that.
I know a thousand young boys and girls who use $200 baseball bats to strike out while a few dozen use $5 used bats to hit home runs ... go to any youth sporting event if you want to see where this all starts.
Well, once again my ignorance surfaces. I had to research the difference after I read the rant. Jeeze! Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me if you're a snob about what kind of camera someone uses if you like their images. Anyway, they say you're supposed to learn something new every day, and I just did! :)
"remember that in the long run the quality of the output is what really matters."
That to me is the vision and ability of the photographer, not the gear they shoot with. One of the best shot's I've seen here on 365 is taken by a lovely lady with her mobile phone on the way to a craft group session!
Made me think of Jake, his crop sensor works great. I was talking with my brother-in-law, about the lenses that I would like to get. He told me that I shouldn't worry about it, as soon I will be wanting a full-frame camera. Why, my crop-sensor works fine...it's the photographer that still needs refining.
Nothing hinders creative thinking, problem solving, original, imaginative works of art like the "nit pickers" of the world! I add my Sheesh to the list!
@lichtecht Exactly! My husband has a Mustang. He can't take me half the places around here I'd like to go, because the poor thing couldn't handle the rough roads, and he borrows my minivan when his Dad's dog needs to go the vet so the Mustang doesn't get doghairs in it!
