This topic might have been covered elsewhere, i have looked, honest, but i can't find the answer.
I quite fancy following people from different parts of the world, maybe having a nose at day to day stuff happening in America, and Ireland, and more unusual places in the world.
Is there a way i can search users from specific towns and countries and see what takes my fancy?
For instance, does anyone live on Cape Cod? I went there on holiday years ago and would quite like to follow some New Englanders.
Also, i live in Bristol, UK and would like to see other peoples take on my city.
There was a good thread once sometime last year, where heaps of 365ers just posted there location, so yeah, perhaps this could be the 2012 version!
My name is Jason Daniels, my 2011 project was 95% based on my life in Far North Queensland, Australia. My 2012 project is a retrospective look at my life in Papua New Guinea.
@tammeray@bobfoto@sarahricho Thank you for your help, and, yes Jason, maybe this can be the start of the 2012 version. That was the kind of thread i was searching for.
@markolver - Oh and my 2012 project will not be Australian-based. Papua New Guinea is an island north of Australia and it will be a crackin' trip, albeit a retrospective.
@cookielovesmilk Tis fine. I think all the Americans are in bed, and all us poms are at work. So its obviously just you Aussies coming back from the pub who are on 365 at the moment.
I don't think there is a link to hometowns but most people write where they are from in their profile. I think that's kinda nice then you at least know where their pics are taken and if not - I ask them where their pics are taken.
A true nomadic at heart - I tend to wander the world for at least 7-9 months out of the year collecting all sorts of experiences - so my 'home' is where I lay my head. ;) I've just returned to Cape Town, South Africa (land of birth) and hope to leave again for new adventures in Africa this year.
I love following people from all over the world! What seems "mundane" to each of us can be really fascinating to others who don't see it every day. Last year right at the beginning of my project we spent some time in England with my husbands family. I remember driving around and thinking there was no end to the beautiful things to photograph. When I told them about the project they were like "I don't know what you'll be able to find around here to take pictures of" LOL! That's how I felt about where we live, because I've been here my whole life. I'm trying to look at my home through fresh eyes, because when they come to visit here they are equally in awe.
I'm from coastal CT, USA... Not quite cape cod, but I often visit in the summer, lol
Southern coast of Massachusetts here! I live about 45 minutes from Cape Cod. We have a fair amount of members from Cape Cod. Quite a few have joined recently.
I'm from Frankfurt, Germany, and have lots of UK-based people I follow because I spent four months in Cambridge last year (all covered in last year's project). @andrewdearling and @wrighty are both from Bristol but at least Martha (@wrighty) is now in London.
What a brilliant mix of people and nationalities. Now all i need to do is know when to stop following people (and decide on the destination for my next holiday)
@markolver - I tag all my photos "NYC" since that's where I am and shoot my pics there. Some other people may tag their pics with city names or abbrev.
I'm in Brissy, well a bit north of the city, but Brisbane, Australia :) I've found some fascinating things to me from people I follow in the USA... cos we don't have stuff here that they do etc. Love it :)
West Virginia here, but right on the Maryland line. I visit Washington DC and Baltimore often since they are close. Follow me and I will follow you back. I LOVE to see pictures where others live.
I've been following Laurie @lauriehiggins for some time. She lives in Cape Cod but she has just finsihed her year and may not post so regularly now. Myself, I'm in the sticks of Suffolk!
This time last year I posted a picture which was indicative of where I lived and asked everyone to do the same and it was a great thread if you can find it, you could search my tag - chewyteeth - on discussions perhaps. Also type your search into the search browser here and as long as people have tagged their photo with their city name it'll be there. this thread is a repeat of one last week if you can find it and see what they concluded. Good luck, I'm in Manchester and there's about 15 of us, Wrighty is from Bristol but it seems you know that, she's the Bristol wing of the 365 plane.
I'm from Cape Town, South Africa... and if you are looking for a new destination - follow Leana Niemand who is cycling round the world and currently coming up the Amazon! @leananiemandhttp://365project.org/leananiemand/365
I'm from northwest Indiana, USA. The very southern tip of Lake Michigan and its awesome dunes are about a 20-minute drive. Chicago is less than an hour northwest of here. What I love most about this project is seeing everyday sites from around the world through the eyes of 365ers.
Recently one of the photographers was glum that he was leaving his vacation in France (where he took fabulous photos) to head back to the Netherlands. For him home is everyday. For me, I've never been to the Netherlands and am sure the photos will be fabulous. Absolutely love seeing the great variety of location shots.
Cardiff / Caerdydd based. But also like taking my camera on away days too. Found someone who is micro shooting Cardiff for those interested: http://365project.org/themangaffney/profile
@markolver I live on Cape Cod MA. I'm new to 365 and wouldn't pretend to be anything but a amateur photographer but I do plan on using the beautiful landscapes in my album. Do you plan a return visit to the Cape?
I'm from France, you can see some shots of different locations in my album, but I don't always have the opportunity to capture interesting views. If you haven't seen her pics yet, you can look at Helene @parisouailleurs 's project, she has many shot of Paris.
@markolver I'm in Bridgwater, which is in Somerset. So quite near to Bristol. I'm going to have a look through your pics, see if there's anywhere I recognise :)
Well, for a Scandinavian view of things, you're always welcome to look at my photos, even though they are seriously lacking in quality.
I come from the birthplace of H.C. Andersen and the world's oldest monarchy - Denmark. Born on small island Bornholm, now living in capital Copenhagen. I frequently post photos from both places.
northern new jersey here....not far from new york state (but pretty far from new york city)
i wouldn't say any of my pictures really show nj much...ohwell
I'm from Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
It's way up north, so if you want to see photos of snow, snow and more snow it's what I'm living about 40% of the year!
Hi! Jacksonville, Florida here.
Markolver, I found a few people from my area by clicking a tag for my city on one of my photos. I believe they have search photos by tag turned off at the moment so you'd have to either find a picture of the area you wanted OR tag your photo, click the tag, and explore. Just remember to remove said tag off your photo!
I'm new to 365 and I'm from the Heart of Dixie, in Alabama. (home of the Crimson Tide! Know what kind of Tide that is?)! Would love to see pix from other countries/cities, too!
Cave Creek Arizona USA here. Not in the city. Along the Carefree Hwy in the middle of the desert. Lovin' this thread. I'll be adding some people from other parts of the world. I'm so interested to see life from different perspectives.
How could it be that I'm the first living near Seattle, WA on this thread?
@polarvrtx I totally agree. I have found myself absolutely captivated by scenery and things from other parts of the world that others might think common. I'll have to remember that while I'm shooting things familiar to me!
Someone I strongly suggest that you follow is Shaun Munro. http://365project.org/sicamore/365 He is a pilot living in Zambia taking some incredible photos.
I live in Destin, (Northwest) Florida, USA!!! We have some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world! Sugar white, powdery sands with emerald green/aquamarine waters...it is truly paradise!
I live in Croydon, South London and am a Brit, bought up in Oxted, Surrey.
This is why I am just loving this new community I have found - that people here live all over the world....I see the most beautiful scenary in people's photos that they must see every single day, and take for granted...I think my life is dull because I don't see beautiful locations all the time - but then I get to see all the London landmarks....not all the time, coz I don't work in central London....but I guess this is what is good - everyone can see different part of the world, but not just the tourist parts, people's every day lives.
It's late in London and need to go to my bed, so I will come back to this thread and tomorrow and follow lots of you, so I can see where you live !
I'm originally from New Zealand but have been living in Australia for the past 3 years (exactly from yesterday actually!). Currently living in Melbourne right in the CBD.
Suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, USA here. About 45 minutes from Cape Cod. I'll be sure to tag Cape pictures when I get down there. Always looking for an excuse for a day trip.
No weird request. That's what makes 365 so interesting for me too! I am German but I have been living in Shanghai, China for the past 4,5 years. And you can use the tags if you want to find something specific. Not everyone uses the tags but I think quite a few do :)
Louisville, Kentucky here :) I would love to "follow" and have a "following" of people from all over the US and the world. It is interesting to be able to see photos from so many different places!
I'm in Exmouth, Western Australia. I love the peek that 365 gives you into other countries and I've really enjoyed hearing comments from across the world about my more Australian photos. Definitely a real positive of 365.
Placerville California here, between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe California...I love your part of the world have been there a few times, and I know I will be back
@bobfoto I was in PNG on holidays in 2005 when my brother-in-law was the Aussie Defence Attache there. I've looked at your pics and it made me go and look at the ones I have. One word to describe those PNG pics - colourful!! Should put a couple in my second albulm
being able to find people by location at the click of a mouse would be a great addition to 365...my real life travelling days are on hold at the moment but I love looking at pictures of the places I've lived and been before...for what it's worth I'm in Gloucestershire UK
I'm from Massachusetts, however I'm not on Cape Cod (only wish I was!) and this is all new to me so I probably don't have what you want. But you need to follow Karen Sylvia - she has amazing pictures and she's from that general area.
I'm in Adelaide, Australia...according to many, one of the best wine regions of Australia, with McLaren Vale to the South and the Barossa to the North of the city. You'll undoubtably see a wine shot or two throughout the year...surprisingly though, I haven't posted one yet :) It is only day 11 for me....stay tuned!
I grew up on Cape Cod. I live in another part of Massachusetts now but on occasion I go back to visit family and friends so some of my photos may inlcude a small glimpse of the Cape and surrounding areas.
@markolver Have you heard of James Oliver Curwood? He was a novelist and conservationist who was born here. We have a castle that he used as a writing studio and a festival in his honor in June... And since I am within walking distance of the castle, I'll go take some photos of it for tomorrow's shot. :)
I have heard of Bristol, and I'm hoping I'll travel there some day. :)
@dieter Townsville is one of my favourite place names in the world. It sounds like a place named by an unimaginitive person. Or the name of a place Superman may have lived.
Hi Mark,
I did six weeks of training in Bristol many years ago and still have fond memories of the local pub. I have since returned home, and live about 20 miles west of the Cape Cod Canal on the mainland side.
My name is Jason Daniels, my 2011 project was 95% based on my life in Far North Queensland, Australia. My 2012 project is a retrospective look at my life in Papua New Guinea.
Consider me now Austraiaed up!
@amz87 What time is it in NSW Amy?
I'm from coastal CT, USA... Not quite cape cod, but I often visit in the summer, lol
I seem to be following lots of people from Australia - I'm jealous of them!
Lunchbreak time here now...
@markolver i live in oxford!
Love seeing photos from other parts of the world as i am yet to travel far.
@sarahricho lol @ sending convicts back!!
@bobfoto Love the sound of your 2012! My parents spent time over there many years ago. Enjoy!! Might just have to follow you myself!

@wrighty? Yeah, i think ive met her!!
@amorton There most be loads of things in Georgia and Alabama. Wanna swap? You come to rainy Bristol and i will travel to the states?
Am surprised by the lack of Irish people on here.
Is 365 project an American invention?
I think ross is English but not sure where he is based
I'm from Sydney , Australia.
You can do a tag search for images, but that only works if people tag their images with location. Welcome to 365!
I come from the birthplace of H.C. Andersen and the world's oldest monarchy - Denmark. Born on small island Bornholm, now living in capital Copenhagen. I frequently post photos from both places.
i wouldn't say any of my pictures really show nj much...ohwell
I'm from the UK, near Oxford.
It's way up north, so if you want to see photos of snow, snow and more snow it's what I'm living about 40% of the year!
I am from Limerick Ireland, another paddy tg.
It never really occurred to me to tag my photos with locations (or at least those that are more indicative of their location). Good idea!
Markolver, I found a few people from my area by clicking a tag for my city on one of my photos. I believe they have search photos by tag turned off at the moment so you'd have to either find a picture of the area you wanted OR tag your photo, click the tag, and explore. Im going to have a big "following" increase in the next few minutes.
Thank you 365ers.
@polarvrtx I totally agree. I have found myself absolutely captivated by scenery and things from other parts of the world that others might think common. I'll have to remember that while I'm shooting things familiar to me!

Is Portlandia the show just like Portland the place?
Another great wine region, just nearby
@snaggleture San Diego is another place on my list of places to visit.
Is Owosso famous for anything? Have you heard of Bristol?
I have heard of Bristol, and I'm hoping I'll travel there some day. :)
What is Bristol famous for? Wallace and Gromit? Portishead? Cary Grant?
Dare you all to throw in your cities greatest claim to fame.
