I feel like I've been improving a lot and growing so much since I joined this site so I wanted to share my first picture and my newest picture and I'd love for you to do the same. Thank you for such a supportive and fun community and critiques and support I love this :) Have a good day
Blurry.. no real attention to light.. still one of my favorites but had no clue about settings.
Taken yesterday.. more attention to light and depth of field. I'm proud of this one, but just more excited that I can see improvement w/ my pictures.
@swguevin Lol yours are both great what a creative idea for Christmas.. beautiful colors and lighting! @jsilver Oh man I love that second shot sooo much how awesome! @tandem02 you can tell the progress in your photos as well how amazing! It's so cool to watch yourself grow and so much fun!

And my latest post. I've become more comfortable with my camera and what it's capable of- as well as learning some fun processing effects to use for more creative shots.
Yesterday's.. I haven't posted today's yet :-)
Boys Will Be Boys
I don't think I've grown as much as I could. I need to put more focus on stretching myself I think!
@mummarazzii Wow, Lisa, your progress is amazing! I had just asumed that you started at a very high level already so this really surprised me - in a good way.
Don't think I've learnt much that I didn't know before, just getting more and more frustrated with not being able to control the focus... or anything else. :-P prrrrrrrrrr
@meagang thank you so much Meagan :) Wonderful compliment x Your latest shot is just stunning!! @traeumerlein87 thanks Lisa, I have learnt a lot in the last 6 mths and I know I have sooo much more to learn, it makes it easier when you love what you are doing :)
I didn't know how to use any settings other than auto when I started and I certainly wouldn't have attempted a macro. I have learnt about DOF and although I've got a lot to learn still realise that I've improved no end. I shoot a lot of stuff on aperture priority and would like to progress further with a DSLR which I'm thinking about buying in the next 6 months or so. This pic of the toadstools is not actually one of my best but it is one I posted today. Have a look at some of my other river pics to see some better ones
@meagang This one I processed in Picmonkey. I love when people use those warm dreamy tones, I don't have photoshop, so I just tried to make something similar to what I saw in other projects. I just play with all different edit options until I like it. :-)
I do think that I have improved in the past 6 months but I am sure that I was capable of taking a much better shot for my first one. Trouble is I was suffering from a bit of a New Year's Day hangover at the time but really wanted to start on 1st January
@olivetreeann I love it great job!! @m9f9l Oh I think you have! I love the silhouette of the boys so beautiful.. I think night shots are really hard.. at least they are for me lol! Great job! @sjodell Absolutely stunning!! So gorgeous the light, the colors I love this one! @primitiveprobe Nice shots great job :) @madarhino I think that your last one has a great focus! @newbie Love the ducks!! Great job water looks perfect and you can see the colors of the feathers so well! @munchkin84 Absolutely beautiful bokeh! I'm trying to play with mine not sure how you get the blurs of light so big in the background.. beautiful! @lyno Absolutely gorgeous!! I love the tones and the focus great job! @peadar Love it very creative and great focus! @rosiekind Great job Rosie.. you made those mushrooms look beautiful I love the focus and colors! @chelseap92 Great improvement!! I'm trying to play with shutter speed for water.. haven't quite mastered it as well as you. Nice job Chelsea! @wenbow Aw such a sweet shot.. lots of improvement with you as well! @nataliestrawberry Gorgeous pov for that flower beauitful.. nicely done! @jantan Lol new years day hangover should be a pass for all :) Great job! @alceyone Holy cow!! I love that droplet photo amazing! @carmel Great job Ariel! Love how the water looks like mist at the bottom beautiful! @northy Wow I love your last shot. I really need to start taking more random photos of streets and street walkers.. great job! @jonesp I can only hope to be as good as you in six months. That water shot is incredible.. what we're your setting if you don't mind me asking? How do you get the water so silky? Or is that a secret I need to find six months down the road ha ha :) @gareauk1 So cute! Awesome job :) @notliz Beautiful.. I love the post processing in your latest. Great job!
Meagan, the 'secret' is an ND filter to allow you to get long exposures which in this case helped me get the smooth water effect. Other times, it gives me more of a misty/foggy look. It really depends on the movement of the water. This one was 30 seconds. Have a read of this thread in which I gave some more info and also has some great examples of others work:
Well ive only been doing this for 19 days, and only had my DSLR for a few weeks, im learning how to work my camera still. So in the 19 days I have gone from
