Popular Page!

October 2nd, 2014
I was just wondering. Sometimes I get a lot of comments and favs and then many days later I go to my picture and it says it was on the popular page. I didn't see it on the popular page and I check the popular page everyday to see whats on there!
Why do I not see it on the popular page and why does it say that three or four days later???

Beats me. I have never been on PP but sometimes on Trending - and I miss seeing that too. Congrats on the PP! It is something I keep striving for!

As soon as the photo appears on the Popular Page it will update to show that it's featured on the photo itself, but you don't get a notification, so you have to keep checking. Once it's dropped off the Popular Page, it still shows that it was featured on the page, so it's easy to miss when it was up there.

Photos stay on the popular page for as little as 10 minutes or as long as 3 days, depending on the response to the photo once it's on PP, and whether other photos are proving to be more popular. They can also be dropped and re-added to the page several times of the course of three days (which is the limit).

You can see when your photos were added to and dropped from the Popular Page here:

For example, this photo was on for just over two days:

Sometimes you need to refresh the page many times to get the pictures shuffled.

@abirkill Thank you Alexis, I did not realize I could do this!

Thanks for explaining! I didn't realize that they could be added and then dropped and then added! I also didn't realize that might be only added to the popular page for only 10 minutes. I guess it wasn't that popular if that was the case! Thanks again for taking the time to explain!

Been wondering how trending/popular pages works.. This explaind it a bit, thanks @abirkill !

@abirkill thank you for this page Alexis!

I like the new addition of being able to check what's made the popular page with the http://alexisbirkill.com/365project/popularpage/ link. Only problem is it doesnt pick up photos that made the popular page before the labeling of trending/popular was introduced - I remember the days when people used to tell each other - "I spotted this on the pp!" and sometimes that was the only way you knew!
I think that's why some people (like me) still use a personal tag (like your username with pp or pop after it) to keep track of what's made it to the popular page, although if you've joined after the new labeling system you no longer need that!

@abirkill I've only just realised this was made by a 365er - thanks Alexis, it's brilliant!

Like what was mentioned above, you don't see all the PP photos when you go to the PP. When you refresh the page the pictures with shuffle and you will see more. Like Alexis said you may have to shuffle several times for yours to show up if it is still on the page. I guess I'm just repeating what was said above but I am just hoping to help.

I really hate that they change so much! When I'm browsing the page and see many pics I like and want to comment, I always loose some because they are not there anymore when I go back.
October 2nd, 2014
@tande you could always open each individual photo in a new tab so as to not lose the batch of pp images you have on your screen :)

@snackmaster true! I browse the pics with my phone often, so much easier just click the image quickly.. And then I remember.

@abirkill thanks for that page. It's brilliant! x

@abirkill Thanks for hosting...i have 1!

Sometimes they are only there for minutes, which is usually what happens to my pictures.

@abirkill Hi Alexis - I find your page an invaluable record of my PP images, I'm a little puzzled though as my last two PP entries from the 9th and 11th November are not showing when I use your page link - all the others are there it is just the two most recent that are missing, If you've got a moment I would love to resolve this - thanks in anticipation.

@vignouse @abirkill

Thank you Alexis for your PP record page! I will second Richard's comment - my last PP photo isn't showing up on the page when I use your link. It's also from Nov 11.

@vignouse @ksmale Thanks for letting me know -- it does seem to be broken. I'll try and fix it over the weekend!
November 15th, 2014
@abirkill Thanks Alex - much appreciated.
November 19th, 2014
@vignouse @ksmale I've fixed the issue and it's now running again. Unfortunately it won't pick up old photos that it missed, but I've manually added your missing photos so they show up (although I can't absolutely get the times it was added and removed, so those are fudged). Sorry for not noticing sooner! Let me know if I've overlooked anything!
November 19th, 2014
@abirkill Thank you so much Alexis, you really do provide 'added-value' to the 365 community, and thank you too for going the extra mile and adding in the 'missing' images manually... I'm a happy boy again!
November 19th, 2014
@abirkill Thanks so much! Ditto what Richard said. Your helpfulness and expertise really make the 365 experience great!
November 20th, 2014
@abirkill This is really neat functionality. Would you mind adding my Nov 10th photo back on my page of PP photos? It is one of my favorite photos. I didn't know this existed, glad I ran across this post. Thank you so much! http://365project.org/kt8ird/365/2014-11-10
November 20th, 2014
@kt8ird Hi Kate, no problem! Now done :)
November 20th, 2014
@abirkill Excellent, thank you!
