52 Week Challenge: Week 1 / Dec 31st – Story Telling: Self Portrait

December 30th, 2018
Evenin’ all,

Tomorrow, Monday December 31st kicks off a brand new year of the Dogwood Photography 52 Week Challenge!

The Week 1 theme for 2019 is another self portrait – but this one has a twist…

Story Telling: Self Portrait
Take a picture that tells us who you are, without actually showing your face.

About the Story Telling category:
Good photographers can take beautiful images of something. Great photographers can tell a story with an image. In this category you will take a prompt and turn it into a photographic story.

Use the tag 52wc-2019-w1 when you’re uploading your images to 365, along with any of the following tags which are recommended on the Dogwood Photography challenge page here
#dogwood52, #dogwood2019, and #dogwoodweek1

And of course, do feel free to share your photos here in the comments.

Images tagged for Week 1 can be seen here

Anyone can take part in the 52 Week Challenge and all are welcome – find out more and see the master list of themes for the year on our original discussion thread here

The 52 Week Challenge has been created by Dale Foshe and the wonderful community at Dogwood Photography

It’s now in it’s fourth year and has thousands of participants from all around the world – please do take the time to click through for full information about this and previous year’s challenges, more ways to share online, and more info about the challenge’s creators. I’ve been in touch with Dale to let him know that we’re following along here on 365 and he’s happy to have us join in. Theme and category descriptions and instructions come directly from the challenge page here

Every week, I’ll post a reminder of the coming week’s theme - if you’d like to be notified when these are posted, drop me a comment below so that I can tag you.

Enjoy! 😊

Thanks. Looking forward to it.

Quick question...must we be in the photo somehow, or can it be a photo of other things that tell our story?

@dfarrington Well, my take on it would be that we'd have to be in it, or a part of us at least, as it's a self portrait... but there are plenty of possibilities - hands, feet, eyes, your shadow, reflection, silhouette... anything really :)
