Muscovy Duck

Day 233 of 365: Muscovy Duck

2015 August 21: This is a Muscovy duck that I saw at the Duck Pond yesterday ...one of the birds that came running to see if I had any tasty morsels for them!

Muscovy Ducks are a non-native introduced species in my area ...They are native to Mexico, Central America, and South America. According to whatbird, "The domesticated Muscovy is the only domestic duck not bred from mallard stock. They are also called the Common Duck, Forest Duck, and Greater Wood Duck."

The small population of Muscovy ducks at the Duck Pond seems to get along well with the resident Canada geese and Mallards; I always enjoy seeing them whenever I stop by for a bird watch at the pond.
Super detail and capture fav!
