2015 October 4: Although the day was overcast and slightly chilly, we decided this afternoon that it was a perfect day for walking. We ended up walking several miles around Adtran's pond, enjoying the beautiful scenery and counting birds for my eBird report.
When we were done walking, we sat down in the beautifully-landscaped pavilion for a few minutes to rest and drink in the beauty of our surroundings. Then the unexpected occurred: Just as we got up to leave, a Belted Kingfisher flew right past us and perched momentarily.
I have been trying for well over a year now to get a photo of a kingfisher, so I excitedly raised my camera to snap a quick photo! However, the bird quickly flew away before I could even get my camera raised.
Even though I didn't end up with a photo of the kingfisher, I am still thrilled that I got to see and hear one ...and I plan to try again for that desired photo as soon as possible!
I feel your frustration DS but you'll get your shot one day. I finally got my first shot of a kingfisher last Monday ( http://365project.org/susiemc/birds-and-other ) This is still a great capture though.
