2016.03.01 Tuesday: Today is the long-awaited Super Tuesday, on which 13 US states and the territory of American Samoa all vote in our Presidential Primary elections.
For any not familiar: We not only vote on our party's candidate for President, but also vote for local judges and officials; State Senators and Representatives; local people to represent our area at the party's National Convention; local & state ordinances and taxes; amendments to our state's constitution; etc. This time we voted on whether or not state attorneys and court clerks can pay into the state's retirement system ...I never even thought about it before, so I did not realize that they weren't doing so already! All this to say: It can become slightly overwhelming at times, but I'm glad that we do it; and that with everyone having their say everything always seems to come out alright in the end!
Our forecast calls for strong storms this afternoon, so I and my family went to vote slightly after the polls opened at 7:00 a.m. Around 170 people had voted ahead of us, but we didn't have to stand in much of a line at all -- so we went at a good time!
We vote at a nearby church that is situated beside an open field ...I thought that the field looked beautiful in the misty early-morning light!
I enjoyed reading your commentary, and I can see why you wanted to capture the field. The early morning light is quite beautiful! There's something about being out and about early when everything is so fresh and new that gets the day off to good start.
Thank you for the explanation of Super Tuesday - we only really hear about the Presidential candidate part of it in the UK, really interesting to find out the full story!
