Preparing for Take-off

2016.06.17 Friday: My son recently told me that he had found a pile of Mockingbird feathers in our yard ...He was rather certain that we had lost one of our beloved birds to a hawk.

So I was thrilled today to see this beautiful Northern Mockingbird on our deck -- we have at least one left alive in our yard! I barely managed to get a photo as he gracefully took off in flight.

Probably- and the only thing worse than finding a pile of feathers, is watching the hawk pick off the bird from your bird feeder!
