Flourish by elza

Flourish

Concentrating on the flourishes to a traditional racing boat. The boat he was working on was named 4th September which did not ring any historical bells for me. I only knew about the 8th September associated with Senglea where I took this picture. On the 8th of September we celebrate victory day commemorating more than one victory: the Great Siege of 1565, the surrender of the French in 1800 and the end of hostilities over Malta when the Italians withdrew from WWII. The French actually surrendered on the 4th September but the boat was named for the crowning of the statue of the Virgin Mary on 4 September 1921 and when the parish church became a sanctuary of the Virgin Mary.
I like how this young chap continued to concentrate on his work after a brief interruption from me to get his permission to shoot.
