10th April 2014

After all the excitement of the past few days at the Landmark exhibition, here’s a bee! I found her just sitting on the wall and was about to release her when I realised that she actually looks quite unusual and I’m not sure what type of bee she is. She looks a bit like she is mimicking a wasp but any advice gratefully received in case it is a rare bee and I can log her on my ‘Bee Friendly’ app.
I'm afraid I don't know what kind she is, but I love the detail in your shot of her. Do you help keep track of bees? I'm always glad when I see a honeybee, as their numbers have been so depleted, as I'm sure you know.

@tristansmum Hi there, I have an app on my phone where I can log different species of bees (there's a guide with pictures) to help monitor the bee population as some bees are getting rare. By the way, I have to say thank you so much for your lovely letter which arrived a few days ago. It is lovely to catch up on your news and I will email you very soon to catch up and send you a few photos as well (Isabelle really does love Maddy Mouse).
