15th April 2016

Today I had a meeting with a friend and she suggested Kew Gardens as a venue as she lives close and has free entry as she is a volunteer there. This was a great idea if it were not for the weather. It started with a few showers but after she had left and I had planned a wander around the gardens, the heavens opened. I wanted to spend some time photographing the bluebells and Snakeshead Fritillaries but the rain was now so heavy that this is more of a grab shot and not as composed as I would have liked. It looks quite rural though considering Kew is in an urban area.

Our meeting went well, as I am now helping to organise our photography club summer social and we needed to discuss the details. I really like the fact that Emmeline is so organised and efficient - we get on well. She is also an expert on plants and I learnt from her that the latin name of the English Bluebells is ‘Hyacinthoides non-scripta’ which means no writing as they cannot be used to create ink!
Looks very beautiful even with the rain. I hope you did not get too wet yourself.
